SHEEPRIDGE TROOPER MISSING
News has been officially received by his wife that Trooper Arnold Firth, of 32 Catherine Road, Sheepridge, is reported missing. Trooper Firth, who is twenty-nine, and has four children, has been attached to a tank corps since he enlisted two years ago. His wife last heard from him about a month ago, and he should have been home on leave this week. His last leave was at Christmas.

Mrs. Firth of 32. Catherine Road, Sheepridge, has received news that her husband, Trooper Arnold Firth, is a prisoner of war in Germany. Trooper Firth, who is twenty-nine years of age, and has four children, has been attached to the Cavalry and Armoured Corps since he enlisted two years ago. He was last home on leave at Christmas.

Lance-Corporal Arnold Firth, attached to the Cavalry and Armoured Corps since he enlisted in 1938, is a prisoner of war in Germany. He has sent a recent photograph of himself, taken in a camp there, to his wife, who lives with her four children at 3, Catherine Road, Sheepridge.
L.-Cpl. Firth is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Firth, 112, Walpole Road, Crosland Moor, and is thirty-one years of age. He was formerly an electrician at the I.C.I. works. As a boy he attended St. Thomas’s Day School, and he also attended St. Thomas’s Church.

Splendid News of a Sheepridge Trooper
Splendid news has been received by Mrs. A. Firth, 32, Catherine Road, Sheepridge. Her husband, Trooper Arnold Firth, who was a prisoner of the Germans for four and a half years, is now in Allied hands, and is to be brought back to England as soon as possible. Trooper Firth, who was attached to the Cavalry and Armoured Corps since he enlisted in 1938, was reported missing in the summer of 1940, and a little later that year was stated to be a prisoner.
He was formerly an electrician at the I.C.I. works. As a boy he attended St. Thomas’s Day School, and he also attended St. Thomas’s Church. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Firth, live at 112, Walpole Road, Crosland Moor.

Prisoner of War Home
Trooper Arnold Firth, of 32, Catherine Road, Sheepridge, has arrived home after being a prisoner of war in German hands for four-and-a-half years. Trooper Firth worked on a State farm in Poland along with thirty others. He was recaptured by the Russians and finally taken to a reception camp at Odessa. After two days there he sailed for home, and arrived at Liverpool on Sunday.
His wife received the news that heг husband was in Allied hands and was to be brought back to England three weeks ago. He vas attached to the Cavalry and Armoured Corps, and he enlisted in 1938. Formerly he was an electrician at I.C.I. works. As a boy he attended St. Thomas’s Day School and he also attended St. Thomas’s Church.
Trooper Firth, who is delighted to be home, speaks very highly of the good work of the Red Cross. Everything they supplied was free.
When they were recaptured by the Russians they were six weeks before being taken to Odessa. “During that time,” said Trooper Firth, “the Russians were very good to us all.”
