Four Who Are Missing
Private Patrick Redican is a married man whose home is at 80, South Street, Huddersfield. He is the son of Mr. Matthew Redican and the late Mrs. Redican, of 26, Lily Street, and in civil life was employed as an engineer by Messrs. T. A. Cockin, Ltd., Waterloo Mills, Leeds Road. He is twenty-two years of age.

Private Patrick Redican, of 80, South Street, Huddersfield, previously reported missing. is now officially reported to be a prisoner of war. Pte. Redican is a married man. He is the son of Mr. Matthew Redican and the late Mrs. Redican, of 26, Lily Street. In civil life he was employed as an engineer by Messrs. T. A. Cockin, Ltd., Waterloo Mills, Leeds Road. His age is twenty-two. He is in the Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps.

HUDDERSFIELD BOROUGH COURT
Gave Himself Up in Very Distressed State
Said to have given himself up to the police in a very distressed state, Patrick Redican (38), driver, 26, Daw Royds, Almondbury, was at the Borough Court fined a total of £30 after pleading guilty to two charges of embezzlement.
The charges involved sums of £2 10s, and £3 10s. which he had collected from customers and not handed to his employers, Messrs. W. and A. Bletcher, wholesale fruiterers, Wholesale Market.
Prosecuting, Det.-Chief Insp. D. Bradley commented that in his long experience he had never seen a man so sorry for what he had done.

Court Hear Telephone Call Story
A forty-three-year-old Milnsbridge labourer, Patrick Redican, Chapel Lane, who admitted obtaining goods worth £24 18s. by false pretences, was fined £25 (twelve weeks’ imprisonment in default) at the Borough Court today.
Det.-Insp. P. D. Gelling (prosecuting) said that Mr. John Wilson, who is in business at the Wholesale Market, received a telephone call from a man purporting to be the manager of a certain Co-operative branch. He asked if Mr. Wilson would supply certain goods to a garage in Springwood Street, and the latter agreed.
Seen by the police, Redican admitted making the call. He said that he was out of work and got about £10 for the goods.
Accused told the court that he had been away from work looking after his wife, who had been ill, and their baby. Debts had piled up and “everything came on top of me.”
He was stated to have a conviction for embezzlement.
Said the Stipendiary (Mr. L. M. Pugh): “This was not a sudden spontaneous act. You must have premeditated it.”

Van-driver fined after collision
For driving a van without due care and attention in Upperhead Row, at the junction with Macaulay Street, Patrick Redican, waterman, of Town Avenue, Leeds Road, Huddersfield, was fined £10 (licence endorsed), with 2s. costs, at Huddersfield Borough Court today.
Insp. J. Hague said that defendant, who admitted the offence, turned across the path of a car, and there was a collision.
Redican was fined a further £1 after pleading guilty to driving the van without a driving licence.
Huddersfield Examiner (14/Jan/1967):
Children snatched from bed as living-room blazes
Two young children were carried to safety by their parents when fire badly damaged the living-room of their home on Sunday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Redican, of 14, Town Avenue, Leeds Road, Huddersfield, snatched Linda, aged six, and Susan, four, from their beds after smoke and the smell of burning had awakened them and Mr. Redican had found the living-room ablaze.
A spokesman for the Huddersfield Fire Brigade said it was believed that the fire was caused by a lighted cigarette-end left in a coat pocket.
Firemen, who had to use breathing apparatus, managed to ine the he blaze confine to the one room, but most of the furniture was destroyed or badly burned and the floorboards burned away.
After the firemen had doused. the last smouldering ember and the house cleared of smoke, the family were able to return to their beds to continue a very disturbed night’s sleep.
