CAR BADLY DAMAGED
Collision near Whiteley Arches
A car and a lorry were in collision at the junction of Oakville Road with the main road on the Hebden Bridge side of Whiteley Arches last Friday afternoon. The car, driven by Francis Elliott Macvie, salesman, of 41, Green Park Road, Skircoat Green, Halifax, was travelling towards Halifax when it came into contact with the rear of the lorry, which was turning across the road into Oakville Road. The front end of the car was extensively damaged, the radiator being burst, mudguards buckled and the headlamps smashed. The rear offside of the lorry was slightly damaged.
The lorry was owned by Mr. Stephen Sutcliffe, Hepton Drive, Heptonstall, and was driven by Henry William Bassett, of Woodman Inn, Charlestown.
