OAKES SOLDIER’S DEATH
Result of Accidental Explosion
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ramsden, of 83, Wellington Street, Oakes, Huddersfield, have received official notification that their son, Sapper Norman Ramsden, of the Royal Engineers, who was serving in the Middle East, has been killed as the result of an accidental explosion.
Sapper Ramsden was an only son. He joined the Army for six years, and went out to Egypt two years ago. The life appealed to him. He liked the Army very much indeed. He was twenty years of age. Before joining the Forces he was employed by Messrs. Liddell and Brierly, Ltd. in the sizing department. As a boy he went to Oakes Council School, and was a member of the Oakes Baptist Scouts. His parents would be glad to hear from anyone who could give them more information.
