He’s listed in various census returns as follows:

1871 at 76 Towngate, as a shopman aged 20.

1881 at 141 Co-op Yard, as a Co-op Store Manager.

1891 at 148 Co-op Fold as a Manager, Co-op Society.

By 1901, he’s living in Wolverhampton.
