Here’s my attempt at transcribing the letter sent to Irvin’s mother…
November 4th [1944]
Capt. R. Elliston-Walker.

B.L.A.Dear Mrs Pearson.
Thank you for your letter and am very glad that I was at least able to set you mind at rest. Although I know where your son is buried, I am not allowed to tell you I am afraid, but if you write to the GRAVES REGISTRATION and INQUIRIES, G.H.Q. 2nd ECHELON (21st A.G.) OXFORD, ENGLAND, giving your son’s Number, Rank, and Regiment, they will give you all the information you need. His personal affects have all been sent off & should reach you very soon. If you would like to ask your other son in the R.A.S.C. to look me up if ever he is near me, I will gladly give him all the information & then perhaps he could visit Brother’s grave. The War has caused a lot of sorrow & hardship, and if we manage to achieve a lasting Peace, I hope that future generations won’t forget the terrible price that was paid for it. Please don’t hesitate to write to me, if there is any other help I can give you.
Very Sincerely Yours,
Robert Elliston-Walker
