Joseph Edwin Sykes was a civil engineer and died abroad on the 3rd March 1929. According to the family bible he was buried in the English cemetery in Copenhagen, Denmark, but he is commemorated on his parents grave in St Bartholemew’s, Marsden where Mary Louise was interred with D F E Sykes, having died on the 7th July 1953.
Tom Pinder, Foundling was published c.1902 was later republished under the title Dorothy’ Choice. They are one and the same. It is a romance which deals with the cooperative movement and the Holmfirth Flood. It should be available shortly as an ebook on ‘a digital library of free ebooks’.
