Hiya Dave, I agree, I honestly can’t see anyone wealthy in a 3-4 room house.
I’ve been carrying on my research and came across this yesterday from the Huddersfield Examiner (13 May 1939) – which I thought was fascinating. This does lead me to question if it wouldn’t have led to “Spring Place”. Either way, this was the first time I’ve seen a reference to a spring in the garden, and I haven’t seen these pictures anywhere else from people interested in the area – so I thought I’d share. 🙂
From research, I believe the woman in the photo is Mrs Mary Hartley, and the baby would be Nora – who was 3 weeks old when the 1939 Register was taken.
