Private Arthur Sykes, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Sykes, of 3, Swallow Lane, Golcar, is reported missing. A communication to this effect was received by Mr. and Mrs. Sykes from the War Office yesterday.
Private Sykes, who is twenty years of age, joined the Coldstream Guards in April of last year. He went to France with the B.E.F. at the outbreak of the war and was engaged in some of the flatting which took place in front of the Maginot Line. Educated at Golcar National School, he was a van driver for Mr. Bramley, baker and confectioner, of Britannia Road, Milnsbridge, before joining the Army.
