Lieutenant P. E. Ainley Killed

Lieutenant Philip Edward Ainley, who is reported killed in France, was the son of the late Mr. Walter Ainley, of The Wood, Fixby, and of Mrs. Ainley, now of Oakwood, Edgerton, Huddersfield. He was twenty-nine years of age. He was educated at Cheltenham College and Trinity Hall, Cambridge, where he obtained the degree of B.A. (Engineering) with first class honours. In 1932 he joined the staff of Metropolitan-Vickers, Manchester. During his stay with them he obtained his A.M.I.E.E. He was granted a commission in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps in July, 1938, and went to France soon after the outbreak of war.
