Sheepridge Gunner Missing
Official intimation has been received that Gunner Frank Athorn, 224th Battery, 56th Anti-Tank Regiment, R.A., is reported missing. Gunner Athorn, who is a native of Cud-worth, near Barnsley. but had been in Huddersfield for the last six years, worked in the foundry of Messrs. Hopkinsons, Ltd., Britannia Works, Birkby. He lived at 43 Maypole Road, Sheepridge.
He has a wife and little boy. He served in the Regular Army for three years and was on the Reserve for nine years. His wife last heard from him on May 20.
