- died 21 September 1996 in the Huddersfield area (lived at Cross Lane, Shepley)

Pte. J. R. Lindley, Shelley
Pte. John Ronald Lindley is reported “missing while on active service.” Ronnie is twenty-three years of age and joined the Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps in April and went to France three weeks later. No news has been received from him for ten weeks and any information as to his, whereabouts would be welcomed by his mother, Mrs. McHugh, 56, Broadlands, Meltham, or his grandmother, Mrs. Mitchell Lindley, Stonycroft, Shepley. In civil life he was foreman at Messrs. George Lindley and Sons, Sovereign Quarries, the business with which his grandfather, the late Mr. Mitchell Lindley, was connected.

Private J. R. Lindley
Private John Ronald Lindley, who was previously reported missing, is now reported to be a prisoner of war in Germany. His fiancee, Miss Molly Green, of Garden Terrace, Denby Dale, has had a postcard from him from a German prison camp this week.
Private Lindley joined the Auxiliary Pioneer Corps in April, and went to France three weeks later. He is the son of Mrs. McHugh, Broadlands, 56, Meltham, and in civil life he was foreman at Messrs. George Lindley and Sons, Sovereign Quarries.
