LOST HIS LIFE ON WAR SERVICE
Young Huddersfield Naval Telegraphist
Official intimation has been received by Mrs. B. I. Wood, of 16, Lawton Street, Huddersfield that her son, Leslie Wood, who was serving in the Royal Navy as a telegraphist, has “lost his life on war service.”
He was twenty-one years old, and had been in the Navy since the week after the Outbreak of war. He was married in August, on his last leave. His hobby was landscape drawing, and he won a scholarship at Beaumont Street School, where he was educated, to attend the Art School at the Huddersfield Technical College. Before joining the Navy he was employed at Messrs. J. A. Millward and Son, Albion Street. Mrs. Wood’s elder son is also serving in the Navy — on a minesweeper.
