BIRKBY SAILOR REPORTED MISSING
Able-Seaman G. E. Crowther, of the Glowworm
Mr William Crowther, of 10, Birkby Lodge Road, Birkby, Huddersfield, has been notified by the Admiralty that his son, Able-Seaman George Edward Crowther, of the destroyer Glowworm, is missing and believed killed in action
Able-Seaman Crowther’s twentieth birthday falls in June. He joined the Royal Navy about three years ago and on the outbreak of war was serving in the Mediterranean. He was home on leave about three weeks ago. Before joining the Navy he was an apprentice turner at Messrs. Hopkinsons. Ltd., Birkby. He attended Birkby Council School.
