Does anyone know the mappings between Census data and house numbering?
Dave Pattern:
For the 1871 and 1881 Censuses, the numbering is right to left (i.e. going downhill). It looks like the numbering might be the same for the 1891 Census, but there’s no preceding entry for Spring Cottage — however, they are followed by entries for Spring Vale, so I’m guessing the enumerator was walking downhill again.
