In the pic with the cart, listed for Stone(y) Wood Lane, I don’t think it is there. At the bridge – which looks (from memory) similar, to be sure, the road rises very steeply on both sides. The pic here, which would actually be looking towards Shepley as the picture is reversed, shows a relatively flat road. In reality it is much steeper. I will take a pic next time I pass.

…possibly the choice of lens used for the photo could affect how it appears?
The photo is part of the Kirklees Image Archive, although I don’t think they accept corrections via the “Tell us more” link these days:
