Details have been added for the 1944 Flood, along with biographies for the 3 victims: Maude Evelyn Wimpenny, Dorothea Schofield and Donald Riley. If any descendants happen to read this, please get in touch.
Similarly, if anyone can provide further details for Edward Brook Addy, who drowned at Honley during flooding in September 1946, please do.
We now have biographical pages for 55 out of the 78 known victims of the 1852 Flood. The aim is to have pages for all victims completed before 5 Feb 2022 (170th Anniversary) along with a proper summary of the events. Pages have also been started for a timeline, burials, eyewitness accounts, secondary victims, and survivors.
The biographical pages for all the known victims were completed in time for the 170th anniversary yesterday.
I’ve now added transcriptions for the following key issues of the local Huddersfield newspapers:
